Retail Team Lead at Snow Peak

This position supports day to day operations, leads the retail associates during shifts, and specifically promotes gear, apparel, community outreach. Structure \\- Status: Full Time, Benefit Eligible \\- Compensation: $17.50 / hour \\- Reports To: Store Manager \\- Schedule: Required availability on evenings, weekends, and holidays \\- Location: NW 23rd Portland, OR What You’ll Do Retail Sales \\- Create an elevated, upbeat, welcoming experience for customers \\- Drive and increase sales by connecting with customers and asking open-ended questions to assess needs and make relevant merchandise suggestions \\- Speak with knowledge and confidence to customers about materials, styles, fit, fabrics, price and trends in the outdoor and fashion industry \\- Strengthen our brand presence by encouraging customers to engage with social networking sites and email list \\- Educate customers on brand history, products, offers, promotions, and events \\- Process customer transactions efficiently with excellent point-of- sale/cash-handling accuracy \\- Handle customer service complaints, refunds, and questions, assuring customers are satisfied \\- Answer phone and email questions, including notifying customers promptly regarding restocked product and special orders Day-to-day Operations \\- Execute visual merchandizing for gear and apparel \\- Support community events and social media campaigns \\- Execute opening and closing procedures according to company best practices \\- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the sales floor, fitting rooms, window displays, cash-wrap areas, and back of house \\- Apply knowledge of retail KPIs to make decisions that drive achievement of established sales targets \\- Execute all operational processes effectively and efficiently including shipment processing, back stock replenishment, inventory counts, loss prevention \\- Ensure that health, safety, and security rules are followed Retail Team \\- Act a liaison between store associates and store leadership to create a fun and collaborative work environment \\- Function as Manager on Duty (MOD) when other managers are not present \\- Demonstrate desired behaviors for staff including driving sales, handling difficult and/or complicated sales, cash management, inventory, and follow-up with customers \\- Support the recruitment, onboarding, training and development of the store team \\- Suggest and organize team building activities \\- Contribute to a positive working environment by being, approachable, respectful, responsible, and team oriented What You Need \\- High school diploma or equivalent \\- 2 years working in a retail environment with point-of-sale/cash-handling \\- Experience leading a team \\- Extraordinary customer service \\- Basic mathematics and financial knowledge \\- Basic knowledge of operating personal computers, POS systems, and various software packages including MS office \\- Reliable and professional \\- Approach solving problems creatively and strategically \\- Friendly and engaging with all types of people \\- Strong leadership skills with ability to motivate others \\- Enthusiasm for a fast paced, high growth working environment \\- A creative mind with an ability to take initiative and be resourceful \\- A passion for the outdoors and the beneficial role it plays in people’s lives \\- The commitment to maintaining a workplace in which all employees have an opportunity to participate and contribute to the success of the business and are valued for their skills, experience, and unique perspectives Nice to Have \\- Coursework or degree from a college or university \\- Experience in the outdoor or fashion industries \\- Experience using Shopify Physical Requirements \\- Prolonged periods standing \\- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds \\- Communicate effectively with a diverse audience in person, by phone, and using computer The Perks \\- A creative, fun, and dynamic work environment in beautiful Portland, Oregon \\- Employee discounts on incredible Snow Peak gear \\- Health, Dental, and Retirement Benefits Interested?
