Assistant Designer - Ladies Clothing

In this role you will assist the design department in the creation, development, follow up and execution of all brand items in the design pipeline each season. You will work very closely with both the Associate Designer as well as Lead Designer and become the right hand to the department. Responsibilities Assist with inspiration and trend research: fabric/yarns, tears, media research Build, maintain, and update design boards, books and excel files throughout the season Create technical flat sketches to style specification and set-up corresponding spec and design sheets Check and coordinate weekly development packages to be passed off to the factories and sample team Communicate and follow-up with the vendors on style development details Organize and maintain seasonal sketch binders and excel files Generate style folders, update development details and approvals weekly Review incoming garments with Designer and cross-functional partners to ensure they are correct Assist in sample preparation for Pre-Proto and Finalization presentations Attend relevant benchmark meetings and take detailed notes as directed Review and comment on PP/TOPs Create seasonal line books for all items each season Perform miscellaneous administrative tasks as needed Qualifications Knowledge of garment construction and design process for development Great eye for color and overall ladies fashion Ability to take direction and also collaborate creatively with the team Pleasant and friendly demeanor at all times and does not get flustered easily Ability to multi task and have a highly productive day in a fast paced environment Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask in fast paced environment Sound communication skills to effectively collaborate with Design, Production, and factories Detail oriented and excellent follow through skills Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, Photoshop, Illustrator) Fosters connection by putting people first and building trusting relationships. Integrates fun and joy as a way of being and working, aka doesn’t take themselves too seriously. Internship in the apparel or textile industry is preferred, but not required
