Job Details This Adjunct faculty member teaches Associate in Science courses in Fashion Design and Merchandising and is responsible for providing superior academic and lab instruction, orientation to students regarding fashion industry terminology and practices. What you will be doing • Provides classroom and laboratory instruction to students in the Fashion Design and Merchandising program • Evaluates, recruits, and advises Fashion Program students • Participates in a variety of departmental, campus and college-wide programs, activities and committees • Participates in curriculum development and revision that stress innovation and multiculturalism, and assesses the curriculum against state and national standards • Supervises and coordinates field experiences and/or internships • Prepares and submits student information and reports • Submits student grades, attendance, and other classroom records to the appropriate departments in a timely and accurate manner • Serves as a resource for faculty members and the program • Evaluates students on comprehension and performance on practical techniques, and provides career and academic advising for students • Participates in grant writing and acquisition of external funding for the program • Uses teaching strategies to promote student success and retention. Notifies program chair about at risk students requiring additional instructional support and resources for completion • Maintains safety and order of the lab, classroom, equipment and students within their area of instruction • Plans and organizes instructional materials to meet course objectives and maintains budgetary requirements within their area of instruction • Participates in departmental recruiting and retention activities • Performs other duties as assigned • Familiarity with and use of collaborative learning techniques and student-centered methods of instruction • All educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution • Possess excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with students with a wide range of skills • Possess excellent interpersonal skills • Ability to work well with students, faculty, staff and the community • Demonstrated effective use of active learning techniques • Ability to work in a multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments • Start date for this Faculty position is anticipated to begin on or before August 18, 2016 • Doctoral stipend awarded in addition to base salary, as applicable
