The primary responsibilities for this position include mentoring and teaching undergraduate courses and conducting research. Essential Functions & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Essential FunctionsThe following are the functions essential to performing this job:Teach apparel manufacturing, textiles, clothing design and construction coursesProvide students' skills in Geber CAD, Optitex, Photoshop and IllustratorTeach, mentor, and advise undergraduate and graduate students.Conduct research to support teaching program.Seek grants and external funds to support teaching program and research activitiesBuild new relationships with industry and the community to promote student experiential learning.Assist in curriculum development, review and improvement.Participate in student recruitment.Participate in departmental, college and university activitiesRequired Knowledge, Skills and abilityThe individual in this job must possess these skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities:Demonstrated experience and effectiveness teaching in Fashion Design coursesAbility to work with diverse students, faculty and familiesDemonstrate ability to plan, implement and evaluate programsAbility to work with others in a collegial teamatmosphere.Candidate must possess excellent communication skills, and be able to work with diverse students, faculty and families. Candidate must be competent in Fashion or textiles design software such as Optitex.
