Thrift Store Manager

AMVETS National Service Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that supports American Veterans through a variety of programs. AMVETS National Service Foundation is currently seeking a qualified and motivated team member to manage new stores opening the Knoxville, TN area.

The General Manager reports directly to the Thrift Store National Operations Manager for the operation, administration, and profitability of the assigned thrift store location. A General Manager is responsible for productivity and operations of all production staff members, maintaining guest service as per company standard, generating sales, housekeeping, merchandising, pricing, cash register operations (POS) and store safety and loss prevention in adherence to all Company Policy/Store standards. The General Manager is a “hands-on” position; General Managers participate on all levels of store production and lead by example.

Primary Duties

Ensure attainment of store profit goals
Ensure attainment of donation round-up goals
Provide sales and analytical reports on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
Identify areas of improvement, troubleshoot, and develop correction strategies for store productivity
Maintain a professional staff, including hiring, promoting, counseling, and terminating of staff members
Scheduling of all thrift store personnel
Management of payroll, keeping payroll percentages with prescribed budgets as well as approval and submission of payroll on a bi-weekly basis
Verify cashier drawers are counted accurately and correct at the beginning and end of each shift
Ensure the staffs remain on task and fulfills all assigned duties
Ensure attainment of production staff daily productivity goals (piece counts)
Develop correction strategies to ensure production quotas are on target when numbers have fallen short of quotas
Confirm that all merchandise that has remained on the sales floor after a six-week period is removed and deposited into the appropriate areas
Ensure that each guest/patron receives outstanding guest service from all employees by providing a guest friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every guest, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of guest service.
Maintain an awareness of all product knowledge information, merchandise promotions, and advertisement and communicate with the thrift store staff members.
Coordinate floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance and store housekeeping.
Assist in processing and replenishing merchandise while supervising; participate in receiving and monitoring floor stock.
Adhere to all Company policies, procedures and practices including pricing and loss prevention.
Maintain a standard of cleanliness and organization in any areas where donations are collected, including clothing drop box areas on premises.
Ensure that the thrift store staff is thanking patrons for supporting American Veterans when receiving donations.
Accurately and efficiently manage sales transactions and maintain proper cash and media accountabilities at POS registers.
Perform store closing and/or opening duties including securing store door locks and security system, turning off/on appropriate equipment and lighting, and padlocking gates or fences on the store premises.
Any other duties as assigned by the Thrift Store National Operations Manager and Thrift Store Director

Physical Requirements

Ability to process information through computer system and POS register system to generate reports, troubleshoot issues, monitor staff, etc.
Ability to communicate with associates and guests.
Ability to read, count and write to accurately complete all documentation.
Ability to freely access all areas of the store including selling floor, stock area, and register area.
Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run store operations.
Ability to frequently move or handle merchandise throughout the store generally weighing 0-50 pounds.

Hours and Compensation

Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates.
Starting pay based on store location and experience
