TECHNICAL DESIGNER - SPORTS DIVISION

Reporting to: Technical Design Manager Brand/Product Focus: Sports – Activewear and Outerwear Location (On-Site): New York City, Midtown Manhattan – Fashion District Key Accountabilities: Product Lifecycle Management: Manage product life cycle from sketch through pre-production through production fit approval; Collaborate with Design and Production on apparel development in order to create cost effective styles Technical Specification: Generate computerized technical specification packages; Review and evaluate samples for spec, pattern, shape, and construction; Consult with Designers to work through complicated garment construction to establish fit; collaborate with Design to update measurements and specifications for the tech pack Systems: PLM systems Communication: Communicate with overseas offices and vendors to identify and resolve issues with garment construction and production; Create and manages WIP report for development tracking and garment delivery Fitting and Specification: Schedule, prepare for, attend and assist with Fit Measure garments and organize for Fitting; Coordinator Fitting schedule; Create initial spec to final full graded spec; Evaluate fit to determine manufacturer has met the requirements of the garment; Ensure all specs and detailed fit comments are conveyed to vendors accurately and on time Corrections and Approvals: Utilize digital photos, technical sketches, detailed instructions and comments from Fitting to communicate corrections; Approve garment for production or reject sample and schedule follow-up Fitting Testing: Request Factory and Mill testing for fabric and garments; Verify fabric quality; Confirm product care and content, Approve Content care label and testing report, Follow up lab test to comply with buyer’s quality requirement (Walmart & Sam’s club) Reporting: Create and manage WIP (Work In Progress) reports to coordinate weekly production and delivery schedule for Fittings and Fit Samples Trim Management: Organize and maintain seasonal trim card library Education and Experience: Three (3) or more years of apparel Technical Design work experience in a SKU intensive environment, required College degree, or equivalent professional work experience, required Skills and Behaviors: Proven expertise in apparel fitting, specs and patterns Working knowledge of PLM, Illustrator, Photoshop, PowerPoint, Excel Strong project management and multi-tasking skills with critical attention to detail Confident, engaging verbal and written communication skills Motivated to work in a high energy environment at the speed of fashion with ever-changing priorities Ability to work independently and work to meet multiple deadlines Ability to build and maintain relationships with other departments as well as vendors and other overseas offices
