Working with the Design Director to manage the design process from conception through to production, the candidate will demonstrate sound judgment and expertise in design concepts, practices and procedures. Candidate will have proven success designing saleable product for luxury or contemporary leather handbag brands. Individual will partner closely with materials design team, production, merchandising and sales, as well as other design- and product development-related divisions. Major Responsibilities Responsible for market and trend research, as well as creating seasonal presentations of silhouettes, materials/hardware trends, new techniques Assist in the creation of seasonal trend packets, color palette, and preline/market preparations Partners with design director, and merchandising team on collection concepts each season Collaborates with material team on season leathers/articles for collection development by tier (volume) Create/sketch original and innovative concepts that align with the Brahmin DNA Works alongside design team in using departmental tools (picsio spec and cad lineups, digital line boards, materials tracker, collection tracker etc) and keeps files up to date Works with the Design Director and design team on collection detail concepts, sketch reviews, calendar deadlines Provide feedback and recommendations for edits to the line, assortment, design detail adjustments to meet costing requirements, merchandising direction etc. Prepare tech packs and all details required for communication of designs to tech design team and operations counterpart for factory sourcing Adhere to global design and development time and action calendar Responsible for updating tech packs and ensuring accuracy for handoff of information to Tech design team Collaborate on continual process improvement and IT development
