Senior Technical Designer

New York based clothing Company is looking to hire an experienced Senior Technical Designer, with a fashionable eye, acting as a liaison between design and production as an integral part of the production process. Individual should be organized, motivated, creative. Responsibilities: Work closely with designers and production team to develop initial designs, tech packs and garment technical specifications using block patterns and original samples Create and update specification tech packs, including detailed technical sketches, graded measurements and construction details Manage all aspects of fittings, construction and technical issues, as well as product evaluations Edit tech packs to clearly communicate pattern changes and corrections to the factories Act as the point of contact for vendors and answer questions regarding fit, specs, pattern and construction Manage the adherence to product time/action calendars Communicate deviations from calendar, facilitate resolutions and resolve issues Participate in research (various construction techniques, new technology and fit) and development of quality standards for the Technical Design department Confirm label and marketing placement instructions for conformance to standards Daily delegation and prioritizing of workload Ability to work closely with design and interpret design intent Knowledge in pattern, fitting and writing comments Manages liability inventories via special cuts and/or liquidation with design, merchandising, and production Works closely with design and production to resolve delivery and material issues affecting production as needed Works on other relevant projects as required by supervisor Qualifications: BA/BS degree or equivalent life experience Minimum 5-8 years of experience as a Technical Designer and/or Patternmaker Strong organizational and interpersonal skills Ability to multi-task, problem solve and effectively influence Very good understanding of the design process, apparel and image aesthetics Highly proficient in pattern making, sewing, garment construction and engineering Able to work in a fluid, fast-paced, multi-channel environment Understanding of manufacturing and product development process Good eye for proportion
