SENIOR DIRECTOR OF MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS

Purpose and Scope As an integral member of the Leadership Team, this position will define and implement the brand communication strategy which promotes, enhances and protects the organization’s brand reputation, both externally and internally. The main goal of this position is to advance the brand’s position and drive broader consumer awareness to support Retail, Wholesale and E-Commerce sales objectives. Job Responsibilities Develop and implement an integrated strategic communications plan which significantly advances the brand identity by broadening awareness of products and priorities by increasing visibility across many diverse key stakeholder audiences Identify challenges and emerging issues faced by the organization; work with leadership team, staff and cross-functional partners to recognize internal and external communications opportunities and solutions; define and execute appropriate strategies to support them Cultivate and enhance relationships with targeted external audiences, including print, .com media and other key influencers, to ensure the organization maximizes media and communication opportunities Create, develop and grow partnerships within the travel industry, lifestyle media, digital spaces andother innovative commercial marketing opportunities. Develop commercial marketing activities across retail, malls, and outlets in order to drive brand awareness and consumer engagement. Head weekly sales meeting with all senior staff Develop stronger social profile and presence by defining the brand’s social media voice, position and objectives Find new business opportunities and create tentpole events that are in line with the John Varvatos brand positioning and desired areas of growth Meet company revenue goals for tentpole events including but not limited to Coachella, Lollapalooza, Cannes Lions, Wimbledon, Art Basel and Sundance Manage and develop the brand ambassador at Melrose store location Work closely with Operations team to plan and execute production of all branded events (internal and external) Oversee the PR activities for North America, with close management of the external PR agency, andsupporting the work of the VIP team through amplification of existing assets across all suitable channels– earned, bought, shared and owned.
