Retail Clothing Lead Sales Associate – Thrift Store

New Nearly New Thrift Shop is seeking a Retail Clothing Lead Associate with previous clothing retail pricing and leadership experience.

Supervising experience in retail or related fields with strong leadership capabilities is a must.

This position is ideal for someone who has worked in a thrift store, consignment shop, boutique, or clothing department and enjoys sorting merchandise, identifying brands, merchandising apparel, and helping customers find quality items.

New Nearly New Thrift Shop is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization with a unique mission: for every item sold in our retail store, we strive to give away one item to someone in need through our charitable partners.

Position Details

Job Type: Part-Time
Pay: $15.00–$17.00 per hour
Location: In-person

Responsibilities

Assign daily tasks
Accept and process customer donations
Sort, price, and prepare merchandise for sale
Hang and organize clothing and garments
Operate the cash register and process transactions accurately
Provide friendly and helpful customer service
Assist customers with merchandise selection and questions
Maintain store cleanliness and organization
Perform general store maintenance duties, including:
Taking out trash
Sweeping floors
Cleaning restrooms
Lift, move, and stock merchandise weighing up to 25 pounds
Support team members and contribute to daily store operations

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge of retail clothing brands required
Minimum one year of retail clothing store experience required
Thrift store experience preferred
Strong customer service skills
Ability to multitask in a busy retail environment
Creative problem-solving and attention to detail
Ability to maintain composure under pressure
Positive, friendly, and upbeat attitude
Leadership qualities are a plus

This position requires the ability to recognize popular clothing brands, assess garment quality, and accurately sort, merchandise, and price donated apparel.

Physical Requirements

Frequently stand for extended periods
Regularly bend, kneel, stoop, and reach
Frequently lift and move merchandise weighing up to 25 pounds

Experience

Minimum of 3 years of clothing retail experience is required. Applicants without apparel retail experience will not be considered.
Supervising experience in retail or related fields with strong leadership capabilities is a must.
Knowledge of marketing strategies, branding principles, schematics, planograms, and remodeling techniques.
Multilingual abilities are highly valued to connect with diverse customer bases effectively.
Experience in store management including inventory management, POS systems, retail math, pricing strategies, and administrative tasks.
Excellent communication skills paired with organizational skills to coordinate merchandising efforts and team activities efficiently.
