Retail Assistant Manager

Job Overview We are seeking an energetic and motivated Retail Assistant Manager to join our dynamic team in downtown Asheville, NC. In this pivotal role, you will lead daily store operations, enhance customer experiences, and drive sales growth through effective team management and strategic merchandising. Your leadership will ensure smooth store functioning, excellent service standards, and optimal inventory control. Skills • Proven management experience within retail environments with a focus on team supervision and leadership • Strong communication skills in multiple languages or bilingual abilities preferred for diverse customer engagement • Excellent negotiation skills for vendor relations, purchasing negotiations, and conflict resolution • Demonstrated experience in recruiting, interviewing, onboarding new employees, and managing employee orientation programs • Proficiency with POS systems, inventory management software, bookkeeping tools, payroll processing, and retail math calculations • Skilled in merchandising techniques including pricing strategies and promotional displays • Ability to handle cash handling accurately while maintaining high levels of customer service excellence • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively across various responsibilities such as stock management and shift scheduling • Experience in supervising retail sales teams with a focus on achieving sales targets through effective leadership and motivation • Knowledge of wireless sales is advantageous but not required • Exceptional time management skills coupled with organizational abilities to streamline store operations efficiently • Adept at training & development initiatives that enhance team performance and product knowledge • Familiarity with marketing strategies aimed at increasing store visibility and customer engagement We have two storefronts specializing in vintage and antique clothing, accessories, art, housewares, textiles, and furniture.
