Product Development Monitor brand’s seasonal calendar and product development process from initial concept to prototype to commercialization, i.e., “prepare product to be production-ready” Work with Design, Technical, CAD/Graphics, Production and Sales/Merchandising to ensure that any changes during the development process are immediately corrected/communicated Manage prototype and sample development to ensure timelines and budgets are met Assist fabric and trim yardage buying necessary for prototypes and samples Track and monitor all development (L/D’s and S/O’s) submissions, samples and expenses Communicate with overseas factories and mills to resolve pending issues and ensure deadlines are on target Additional responsibilities as required Merchandise Operations and Planning Assist in developing seasonal SKU plans and pricing/margin strategies by Brand that maximize productivity and profitability Help develop product framework and merchandise mix to achieve topline and margin targets Own and manage master seasonal line lists in close collaboration with Design and Sales Work with Data Processing, Sales and Production to ensure the timely and efficient population of the product database throughout the development process Sourcing Source and negotiate raw materials terms with Vendors prior to the start of the development process Collaborate with Production and Technical to provide all fabric information such as Solid/Printed Prices, MOQs per color, Surcharges (if any), Fabric Content, COO, Lead-times, etc., Coordinate with Production to understand shipping restrictions, duty rates and pre-testing for development Coordinate with Production and Suppliers on a regular basis for vendor changes and future development opportunities Materials: Research qualities based on Design and Sales/Merchandising feedback Work closely with Sales/Merchandising and Production to update pricing, care and sourcing issues Maintain seasonal fabric binders with swatches, fabric detail sheets and mill cards Fittings: Support Design and Technical at fittings, following-up on and communicating any issues after fittings, i.e.: fabric concerns, color issues, component changes, trim enhancements, etc. Minimum of 2 years of experience in product development and merchandising Bachelor Degree in Textiles, Fashion Merchandising, Design or equivalent Basic computer skills and knowledge in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and PowerPoint:, Adobe Suite is a plus Ability to communicate clearly using fabric/merchandising/garment construction terminology and skills both written and verbal Strong skills in retail math/flash costing concepts Knowledge of product and fabric with an eye for color and styling Organized and detailed orientated Problem-solver, solutions orientated Must be able to multi-task, prioritize work on a continual basis, and work with limited supervision Excellent written and oral communications skills Able to build relationships effectively with cross-functional teams
