POS ANALYST

This position will also prepare functional design document (FDD), including identifying functional and technical requirements, specifications, screen and application flows and recommendations based on the business requirements (BRD) provided by the business analyst (To write functional design requirements specifications according to templates, using natural language simply, clearly, unambiguously, and concisely; To work under general direction of the Store Systems Manager and to work closely with applications development staff and business staff to advise them on complex functional and technical solutions and or issues; To executive the test plans along with the UAT testing; To assist the business analyst in writing user documentation as needed for operational support; To participate in the after action review in which project sign off is obtained). If an issue is in the Java extension layer of our applications, this role will work with the Store Systems Manager, or may reach out directly to the vendor. This role is responsible for working with the business on new or tax changes that need to be supported by working with their Store Systems Manager, or by reaching out directly to the vendor for their support. As a technical subject matter expert, the responsibilities include: Communicating status of the project to the Project Manager, Technical Owner, or Technical Lead who is managing the work Analysis of the current systems and their gaps Ensuring the technical design meets the requirements/functional design; and delivering the Detailed Technical Specification (DTS) Developing the technical solution to meet the functional design; ensuring standards are met, the solution is optimized and is scalable to grow with the business Unit, system, and volume testing before handing over for UAT testing Deployment of changes As a business subject matter expert, responsibilities include: Communicating status to the Project Manager Writing or co-writing the Functional Design Document and obtain signoff Writing the test plan, QA test, coordinate User Acceptance Testing, and obtain signoff Developing expertise in the new solution in the area for which they are a subject matter expert Providing guidance on the change management within the functional area they represent Supporting the project through sustainment and hyper care, then maintaining 3rd level Support (3T) Qualifications Education/Experience Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Retail Merchandising, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field is preferred 3+ years’ experience working in information technology doing application analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, or support 3+ years working in retail and an in-depth knowledge of the retail business processes is preferred Strong business analysis experience; comfortable working in a matrix environment 1+ years working with SQL or Oracle Database Excellent problem solving and analytical skills, including understanding and analysis of data Strong testing and design expertise Experience in creating Technical Design Documents, technical specifications, production supporting documents, implementation plans, test plans and test cases Excellent communication and presentation skills Ability to plan, organize and meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of quality Proficient with one or more current technologies. Modeling skills - the ability to represent technical requirement and design information
