Picker/Packer

Job Summary

You'll spend your shift pulling items for customer orders and packing them for shipment. Each order comes with a pick list, so you walk the aisles, find what's on it, and bring everything back to your packing station. Once it's checked and boxed, it goes on the shipping lane. We're a mid-sized fulfillment warehouse, and the pace is generally steady until the late-morning rush, when it turns into a fast-paced environment for a couple of hours. Slow stretches are rare. Between orders you'll restock your station and break down empty cartons, which keeps the area workable for whoever takes over.

Responsibilities

Picking items off the shelves using the pick list.Check each item against the order before it goes in the box.Packing orders with paper or bubble wrap so nothing shifts around.Taping boxes and attaching the shipping label.Restocking packing supplies as they run low.Moving finished orders to the shipping lane on a cart, which sometimes means lifting up to 35 pounds.Flattening empty cartons.Setting aside any item that's damaged or missing from its shelf and letting the supervisor know so the order doesn't hold up the line.Qualifications

You notice when the wrong size or color is in your hand, even with a full pick list waiting.When orders back up at your station, keeping your area organized and working in the order they came in saves you time later.Showing up on time for your scheduled shift matters, since the carrier pickup doesn't wait.Reading a pick list in English is part of the job, and you'll often get comfortable with the handheld scanner after a short walkthrough.If a rush hits or priorities change mid-shift, you can adjust and move to wherever the line needs help, it's just part of the day.Staying calm and asking a question beats guessing, and we'd rather you check with someone first.Pay: $24.67 - $29.70 per hour
