PATTERNMAKER, Soft Pieces - Hybrid

Job Summary: The Patternmaker, Soft Pieces is an expert in patternmaking, draping, fittings and garment construction of soft pieces. They will work closely with the Designers and technical team to create design vision from protos, show samples, fit samples and production. This person in this role is responsible for development of soft pieces all the way to production and will monitor and adjust patterns to specifications of fit, while maintaining design aesthetics and integrity. Responsibilities: Advanced capabilities converting existing first patterns to production with focus on soft pieces Provide guidance and direction to Production pattern makers, sample cutters/sewers and Technical Design team Issue patterns, samples, finish measurements and construction details Participate in fit sessions and design and production fittings; identify and solve any fit/balance issues Convert missy patterns to large and petite sizes as needed Responsible for ensuring patterns are approved and meet standard for production Collaborate with design and production team to determine optimal construction methods for new styles Ability to identify fit problem and direct team on the appropriate pattern correction Work closely with STO team to ensure smooth execution of samples Coaching and mentoring the team in New York and Shantou offices Travel overseas when needed Experience: Minimum 15+ years’ solid work experience making first - production patterns from designer / luxury market Skills: Strong draping and flat pattern-making skills Solid understand of garment construction base on fabric, understand how the fabric behavior will affect the overall garment fit and appearance and the ability to develop methods to achieve the proper finishing techniques. Must have first-hand knowledge of sewing and factory processes Must understand and be capable of directing team on grade rules standards Knowledge with Gerber Accumark system, excel Great eye for detail and proportion Collaborative work style, with excellent interpersonal communication skills Strong multitasking skills, with the ability to seamlessly manage multiple projects at once Team player and able to collaborate cross-functionally to ensure deadlines are met Ability to work quickly under pressure Proficient in technical design, fittings, garment construction, patternmaking, sizing/grading, collaboration with sewers, and interpretation and translation of fashion design into pattern
