Position Summary
The Part Time Stylist delivers an exceptional shopping experience to every customer at Monkee's of Virginia Beach while supporting daily store operations. In addition to core sales and customer service duties, responsibility for opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and maintaining store standards when management is not on-site. This role is ideal for someone who is reliable, detail-oriented, and passionate about fashion and customer service.
Customer Service & Sales
Greet and engage every customer with a warm, welcoming attitude.Provide styling advice and product knowledge to help customers find the right pieces.Process transactions accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system.Handle returns, exchanges, and customer concerns professionally and promptly.Build lasting relationships with customers to encourage repeat visits.
Visual Merchandising & Store Maintenance
Open and close the store according to established procedures, including arming/disarming the alarm system.Count and reconcile cash drawers and prepare bank deposits as needed.Serve as manager-on-duty in the absence of the Manager.Ensure the store is secured properly at close, including locking doors.Respond to and troubleshoot day-to-day operational issues when in charge of the store.Support other sales associates during assigned shifts.Maintain visual merchandising standards, including floor sets, window displays, and signage.Restock and replenish merchandise on the sales floor throughout each shift.Keep the sales floor, fitting rooms, and stockroom clean, organized, and on-brand.Assist with receiving, tagging, and processing new shipments.Participate in physical inventory counts as scheduled.Operations & Communication
Follow all company policies and procedures, including loss prevention practices.Communicate inventory needs, customer feedback, and operational issues to management.Support in-store events, trunk shows, and promotions as needed.Assist with maintaining social media content or in-store marketing materials when requested.Qualifications
Previous retail or customer service experience preferred; keyholder experience a plus.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy with cash-handling and store security responsibilities.Comfortable using a POS system and basic technology.Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.Passion for fashion, styling, and delivering a great customer experience.Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during shifts.Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs (e.g., stock boxes, displays).Ability to bend, reach, and climb a step stool as needed for merchandising.
Store Manager
Position Summary
The Store Manager is responsible for the overall success of Monkee's of Virginia Beach, overseeing daily operations, driving sales performance, and leading a team of part time stylists. This role balances hands-on customer service with business management from merchandising and inventory control to scheduling, and coaching staff. The Store Manager acts as the face of the brand locally and ensures the store consistently reflects Monkee's standards for style, service, and store presentation.
Sales & Customer Experience
Drive store sales to meet or exceed monthly, seasonal, and annual goals.Lead by example on the sales floor, delivering exceptional, personalized customer service.Monitor and analyze sales trends, KPIs, and conversion rates to identify opportunities.Resolve escalated customer concerns, returns, and service issues.Build and maintain relationships with repeat customers and VIP clients.Team Leadership & Staffing
Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard stylists.Create and manage weekly staff schedules based on sales trends and business needs.Train, coach, and mentor team members on selling techniques, product knowledge, and customer service standards.Conduct performance reviews and address performance issues, up to and including termination when necessary.Foster a positive, motivated, and accountable store culture.Store Operations
Oversee opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and bank deposits.Manage payroll hours and labor budgets to stay within targets.Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and loss prevention practices.Maintain accurate records for scheduling, sales reporting, and inventory.Serve as the primary point of contact between the store and corporate/franchise support teams.Inventory & Merchandising
Manage inventory levels, stock counts, and receiving of new shipments.Execute visual merchandising standards, including floor sets, window displays, and signage, in line with brand guidelines.Identify slow-moving inventory and collaborate on markdown or promotional strategies.Conduct regular and year-end physical inventory counts.Maintain a clean, organized, and well-presented sales floor, stockroom, and fitting rooms at all times.Marketing & Community Engagement
Partner with the corporate marketing team on store-specific promotions, events, and trunk shows.Represent the store at community and networking events to build brand awareness.Support execution of email, SMS, and social media campaigns at the store level.Provide input on local marketing opportunities and customer preferences.Buying & Product Selection
Assist the Corporate Buying Team with seasonal buying, including market appointments and vendor showroom visits.Provide input on style, size, and quantity selections based on customer feedback and sales history.Track best-sellers and slow-sellers to help inform future buys and reorders.Monitor open-to-buy budget and help ensure purchases stay within planned targets.Communicate with vendors and reps regarding orders, reorders, and delivery timing.Help identify emerging trends and gaps in the current assortment.Financial Management
Manage store expenses, and supply ordering.Review daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports and communicate performance to ownership.Identify opportunities to improve profitability and control shrinkage.Qualifications
Prior retail management experience required; specialty apparel or boutique experience preferred.Proven track record of meeting sales goals and leading a team.Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.Proficient with POS systems and basic business software (email, scheduling tools, etc.).Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.Passion for fashion, styling, and delivering an exceptional customer experience.Physical Requirements
