Description Job Summary: The Tailor/Seamstress is responsible for making detailed alterations on Lafayette 148 garments ranging from simple alterations to complex fit modifications and managing the workflow in conjunction with the home office workroom. He/she will work with luxury women’s apparel fabricated using delicate, high-quality materials. Accountabilities: Service Madison clients for all fittings, as well as VIP clients across other NYC area locations as necessary Manage and traffic all alterations for Madison in partnership with our home office workroom Execute as much work as possible in our Madison workroom and traffic the balance to home office workroom in partnership with the Director of Supply Chain Pre-Production Complete alterations within our 10-day guarantee timeframe and satisfy all last-minute / rush requests Manage all administrative functions for necessary controls so that garments are completed timely and returned to the proper location Manage and oversee quality control and work directly with clients to satisfy challenges & concerns Partner with store manager to be available ‘as needed’ for VIP clients & events and work closely with them on enhancing the selling process and elevating the client experience. Skills: Experience working with high-quality materials/fabrics and making alterations on complex garments Ability to read and understand patterns and fabrics Proficiency in basting, fusing, fitting, draping, pleating, French-seaming and garment construction Excellent hand-stitching skills and ability to use and perform maintenance on sewing machines Ability to work with customers to understand and interpret and execute their fit needs Meticulous attention to detail, efficient work style and ability to meet tight deadlines Highly organized with excellent follow-up skills Able to work flexible hours (including day, evening, weekends and/or holidays based on customer needs) Bilingual in Cantonese and/or Mandarin helpful
