IT BUSINESS ANALYST

General Summary: The primary responsibility of an IT business analyst is to discuss the vision of the project with the end-user community and define business requirements. The Business Analyst is responsible for developing information systems that will be extremely useful for taking the business of a company to a higher level of operation. It is important that the Business Analyst have excellent people management skills, communication skills and technical skills. Major Responsibilities: Evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile any conflicts, decompose high-level information into details and distinguish end-user requests from the underlying true business needs Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal resources to analyze information needs and function requirements documentation as needed Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously Work independently with users to define concepts and under direction of a Project Manager Drive and challenge business units on their assumptions of how they will successfully execute their project plans Strong analytical and project management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operation requirements Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers and subject matter experts Serves as the conduit between the end-users community (internal and external customers) and the software development team through which requirements flow Develop requirements specifications according to standard templates, using natural language that the end-user and the development team can easily understand Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs Be the liaison between the business units, technology teams and support teams Define the business problem and primary objectives of new projects Identify and validate the key business requirements Evaluate potential software solutions, including off-the-shelf and open source components and the system architecture to ensure that they meet business requirements Coordinate requirements walk-through and sign-offs, verifying with user representatives/stakeholders that use cases and process models accurately defined business needs Contribute to the development of Project plans and other project management documentation Specific Job Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
