Job Summary: The Inventory Planning Director will drive business results in the Basic Toddler/Non-Apparel divisions of business by ensuring inventory is best positioned to drive sales. This will be accomplished through partnership with Merchandising and Planning partners, analyzing business at the Division, Category and Style, rolling up insight gained from Inventory Planning teams and coaching and developing Planning Managers. This leader will also partner with leadership of Merchandising and Planning to align on key Amazon strategies and will continuously revise plans as needed. Delivering sales plans and inventory management across a 12 month horizon. Responsibilities: Key Accountabilities: Align with cross-functional partners around seasonal strategy (e.g., big ideas, category changes, and flow timing) Using historical sales data, develop an estimate of expected forecast of customer demand across Basic categories of business (Stores/Ecom) Create pre-season inventory targets and validate flow timing in partnership with planning Align with cross-functional partners around in-season store inventory plan (e.g., Visual presentation, Merchandising, Planning, Store Communications) Adjust and reconcile monthly, planned inventory position at total basics level based on sales, inventory, price action, and trend Present monthly inventory recaps with key financial outcomes while proactively identifying improvements to senior leadership Align monthly with Sourcing partners to ensure timely vendor order placement Review Inventory levels at Division/Category with Managers to ensure stores and ECOM are appropriately funded to drive sales, while maintaining margin Participate in SFR to highlight inventory concerns, opportunities, and recommendations around strategy changes Align monthly with Planning and Merchandising leadership around top-down inventory and exit strategies Generate insights/recommendations at below channel level to drive assortment tiering decisions, developing exit strategies Develop Amazon team to utilize historical data and current trends, to capitalize on new opportunities and identify risks Ensure all inventory activities support annual Amazon business and financial objectives Train, develop, and manage direct reports; offer consistent and timely feedback to direct reports Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree 10+ years of experience in related role Skills and Behaviors: Ability to develop strategies driving buy and replenishment decision making Demonstrated data analysis skills; ability to identify critical trends, patterns, and root causes Highly proficient excel skill; ability to understand prebuilt reporting tools and build adhoc reports High level of comfort using technology and custom tools knowledge of retail market, including nuance of high volume/low AUR/vertical specialty retailing Proficiency in Cognos or other BI tools/data sources Ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a high-energy, fast paced environment Knowledge of inventory life-cycle, distribution, transportation, and supplier manufacturing principles sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to provide clear direction and accountabilities Ability to work under pressure and through setbacks Ability to work with and build relationships with all levels of the organization Exceptional verbal and written communication skills Knowledge of Amazon market (preferred)
