Household Assistant

We're looking for a reliable, detail-oriented household assistant to help keep a busy Portland home running smoothly. You'll work two days a week, Tuesdays and Fridays, 4 hours each visit, handling a consistent set of household tasks with occasional flexibility for errands.

Weekly responsibilities

Laundry and linens:
• Wash, dry, and fold laundry (2x per week)
• Change bed linens (1x per week)
• Wash towels and rugs (1x per week)

Cleaning:
• Vacuum all rooms (1x per week)
• Light wipedown of kitchen and bathrooms
• Clean countertops, including the coffee area

Kitchen:
• Load and unload the dishwasher
• Wipe down surfaces and tidy common areas

Plants:
• Water all indoor plants (1x per week)

Periodic deep-clean tasks

On a rotating monthly basis, duties also include:
• Cleaning the inside of drawers and cupboards
• Deep-cleaning the refrigerator
• Cleaning the oven interior

Occasional errands

From time to time, you may be asked to run errands such as grocery pickup, pharmacy runs, or drop-offs. A reliable vehicle and valid driver's license are required.

What we're looking for
• Reliable, punctual and able to work independently with minimal direction
• Trustworthy and comfortable working in a private home, often unsupervised
• Detail-oriented and takes pride in a clean, well-kept home
• Good communicator who proactively flags any questions or issues
• Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle required
• References from prior housekeeping or household work strongly preferred
• Able to lift 15 lbs
• All items required to do the job will be provided

Schedule and pay
• Tuesdays and Fridays, 4 hours per visit (8 hours a week)
• Work must take place between 9 am and 4 pm
• $25–$35 per hour, depending on experience
• Mileage reimbursed for any errands

Non-Negotiables
• Must be OK with a background check, since this work will take place at our private residence.
• You must like dogs and small children. Our child attends preschool Monday through Friday from 8:30 am - 3:00 pm, but may be home occasionally. Two small elderly terriers live in our home, where work will take place. Together, they are an interactive bunch!
• This position is not a fit for someone who does not own a car (you will need a reliable car to commute and run errands—we reimburse for mileage and expenses). You will be working in SW Portland near Multnomah Village/Tigard.
