Summary This position will work closely with the Designer and Costume Shop Supervisor to ensure a smooth production and Carnival ball season. You will also be responsible for the construction of, or advising on the construction of, these pieces. There will be a training/supervision period under the person currently in this position through July 22. -Work with the Designer and/or Shop Supervisor to oversee the completion of all custom costumes and gowns. -High level draping and/or pattern drafting skills for men’s and women’s garments is required -Extensive knowledge of methods of stitching and construction for couture-level garments as well as costuming and tailoring -Significant experience with identifying fit and construction issues in fittings and the ability to address and correct those issues -Knowledge of domestic and industrial sewing machines, sergers, and irons -General millinery, and crafting knowledge -General knowledge of elements of design, and fashion and costume history Management -Great memory for names, faces, and personal details -Ability to multitask -Great communication skills with employees about tasks and expectations of quality and time management -Ability to accurately estimate labor and materials costs for potential projects -Organized and efficient use of space and time -Friendly and efficient interpersonal skills with employees and customers/clients -Maintain professional manner in all situation To Apply Please submit a cover letter, resume, and any other relevant material such as website links or photos of your work to the email address provided here.
