Freelance Sample Sewer

Jonathan Simkhai is seeking a Freelance Sample Sewer who is responsible for sewing prototype and final samples for immediate hire through Fashion Week. The Sample Maker is also directly responsible and accountable for the workmanship quality of the samples he/she produces and for the timely execution of samples Key Responsibilities: Work with Patternmakers and follows their lead to sew prototype and final samples. Personally seeks clarification on design card issues, materials, construction and pattern related questions. Inspects and makes sure every operation in the sewing process is executed to Jonathan Simkhai quality level Check garments on the forms during the sewing process to make sure fit and look is as per Design’s intent Interact with Patternmakers, peers and cross functional partners from Design, Product Development and Tech while executing the prototypes and final samples. Qualifications: 7+ years of experience in sewing Design development samples with luxury fabrics Experienced in working with different raw materials: soft fabrics (chiffon), structured silks, structured wools, leather Ability to sew to a high quality level Strong inter-personal skills Proven ability to work in teams Proven ability to work with deadline pressures.
