Fashion Educator and Program Leader

InsideHigherEd Baltimore, Maryland

Maryland Institute College of Art seeks a dynamic educator and professional in Fiber and Fashion to join the faculty in the Material and Sculptural Studies department. We equip students with practical skills in fine arts, fashion, textiles, and related industries through self-directed learning, empowering them to become proficient problem-solvers. Through a transdisciplinary and collaborative approach, we guide our students to navigate across creative practices, from cloth and culture to sculptural media. Graduates with a focused interest in fashion have gone to work in independent and corporate fashion, tailoring, textile production, conservation, materials sourcing, journalism, film, and theater. Teaching experience at the college level is essential, along with demonstrated knowledge in fashion history, production practice, and sewing/patterning/draping college-level instruction.
