DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

We are working with a 60+ year pioneer and industry-leading provider of high-performance laminated and coated fabrics, flexible composite textiles for healthcare and medical equipment, awnings and pool covers, digital media, banners, billboards and graphics, marine and boating. The company is looking for a Director of Operations in their southern Pennsylvania facility and will be responsible for providing direction and support to all aspects of their manufacturing operation including production, quality, maintenance, and engineering. This position reports to the Vice President, Operations. Responsibilities Champion Operational Excellence providing hands-on engagement focused on: quality, safety, productivity, efficiency, costs, house-keeping and training to ensure operations achieves our goals and objectives Establish a work environment characterized by mutual trust, affirmation and respect, on-going learning, open and honest communications and a passion for winning through Teams Harness Continuous Improvement contributing to the profitability of the organization through Six Sigma / Lean Manufacturing efforts Lead and set direction for project teams to identify & implement process improvement Spend the workday in “Gemba mode” providing servant leadership to your Team, identifying & eliminating waste, providing problem solving and implementing solutions Act as “player coach” facilitating Kaizen blitzes and rapid improvement process events, provide the support and follow-through required to sustain the improvements Ensure the visual service measurements for current value stream are maintained and future state Value Stream Maps are developed and implemented Develop & implement plans to achieve new levels of production efficiency, productivity and Associate engagement Provide Associates with tools to achieve optimal outcomes Monitor performance of Associates through observation, feedback and reports offering direction and assistance Promote best practices, behavior and procedures in areas of safety, productivity and waste that support the Company’s commitment to our Associates, our Customers and our Community Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other Operations departments (QC, Engineering, Maintenance) as well as with other departments (Sales, Supply Chain, etc.) Maintain and update all departmental quality procedures & instructions and ensure compliance by Associates Assist Associates in resolving any job-related opportunities for improvement in processes, procedures, safety, equipment and training Other duties as assigned Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Engineering or related degree required 5 + years of Operations Management or Process Engineering experience Six Sigma Black Belt / Lean Manufacturing Certifications preferred Optimistic success oriented, customer centered, can-do attitude Deep commitment to team building and a lead by example style Ability to mentor, motivate and coach for results and create a positive work environment Demonstrated ability to facilitate change Proven track record successfully deploying TPS, Six Sigma, 5-S and Lean Manufacturing to achieve quantifiable bottom-line results Excellent written & verbal communication and collaboration skills including making presentations and engaging all levels of the organization and ownership Strong computer and analytical skills coupled with ability to create presentations supporting the Internal Best Practice process ERP System experience required SYTELINE a plus Experience in Coating, Laminating, Extrusion, Printing, Flexible Packaging preferred All Candidates must be able to provide work related references.
