DIRECTOR, INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY COUNSEL

The Director, Intellectual Property Counsel will be responsible for overseeing the intellectual property and privacy functions of the Legal Department and will report to the VP, Global Product Counsel. Responsibilities: Key Accountabilities: Intellectual Property Manage company’s intellectual property portfolio; provide strategic analysis on IP portfolio and new trademark filings; review and approve product designs and art, marketing and promotional copy; advise and draft rules on sweepstakes and contests; draft and advise corporate contract team on IP/Marketing related contracts; provide support to business leaders in the development of any new brands or IP. Privacy Assist VP, Global Product Counsel in managing privacy inquiries at the Company; maintain privacy notices, consents, and disclosures to ensure compliance with applicable privacy and cybersecurity laws; assist cross-functional partners in the development of documentation, employee training, policy enforcement, monitoring and auditing, and incident response; counsel and advise commercial and business teams on privacy and data protection-related provisions of advertising deals, business partnerships, and commercial contracts; work with outside counsel on new and emerging privacy issues and data-protection related developments. Education and Experience: Juris doctorate from an accredited law school Licensed attorney in New York and/or New Jersey 10+ years of experience in a law firm or a corporate legal role Experience in a Retail organization is preferred Skills and Behaviors: Knowledge of cost-effective management of outside legal resources Proficient in Microsoft Office Ability to work towards multiple deadlines with shifting priorities Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Must demonstrate professionalism and a high degree of confidentiality
