DESIGN DIRECTOR, Girls

The Design Director will oversee the design strategy and development process from concept to delivery for the business. This position will interpret and fully understand the creative direction provided by the SVP, Creative Director and VP, Design. This position will communicate the creative direction to the Design Team and oversee the design development and execution for each season. Responsibilities: Key Accountabilities: Direct the work of Artists and Designers in the creation, planning, development, and production of designs Maintain the highest design and production standards Oversee and review development of seasonal design concepts that meet the quality and cost parameters Ensure the design concepts align with brand principles and business strategy Develop creative ideas and product awareness in order to produce a creative and competitive product that will help grow the business Ensure that the product is consistent with market trends while maintaining the brand identity and business strategy Lead research on seasonal trends and shop for samples and inspiration Define and adhere to time and action calendar Partner with Merchandising and other departments within The Children’s Place to ensure the product maintains brand identity and adheres to budget Manage and motivate their team to ensure maximum departmental effectiveness and team development Mentor, coach, and counsel direct reports on performance expectations Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in design or related field 7+ years of experience in design with demonstrated success, preferably in a retail environment Skills and Behaviors: Excellent collaboration with cross functional partners High proficiency in Illustrator and Kaleido; proficiency in Microsoft Office Highly competent in creating and driving process Exceptional leadership, presentation, and project management skills Ability to manage/prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines Must exhibit exceptional creative skills (as well extraordinary attention to detail)
