Creative Fashion Designer

Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Bridal/Special Occasion Apparel Designer to join our team at Watters Designs. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for creating innovative designs for our bridal/special occasion collections. Key Responsibilities: • Researching and identifying new trends in the bridal/fashion industry • Creating or visualizing an idea and producing a design by hand or using computer-aided design (CAD) software • Developing a concept for seasonal collections • Working with others in the design team to develop products to meet a brief • Sketching design ideas to present to merchants/editors/designers • Ensuring all designs align with the brand's identity and consumer expectations • Choosing and sourcing fabrics and trims • Working closely with a team of technical designers and manufacturers to ensure the garments are produced to specific standards • Presenting finalized ideas and concepts to merchants/buyers/editors • Understanding and knowledge of garment fitting and making alterations to designs if necessary • Participating in trade shows and fashion shows to present design ideas as applicable • Creatively developing bridal/special occasion designs based on current fashion trends and market research • Selecting fabrics, embellishments, colors, and patterns for each design • Collaborating with the production team to ensure designs are accurately brought to life Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or a related field • Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in fashion design • Strong portfolio showcasing innovative design skills • Knowledge of textiles, fabrics, and fashion trends • Proficient in design software, such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop & CAD software • Ability to work well in a team environment • Exceptional creativity and attention to detail • Excellent communication, organization, & presentation skills • Multitasking and ability to work in a fast-paced environment • Strong leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities • Direct knowledge of the apparel industry, markets, and products
