Copy writer / Copy Editor

Areas of concern include spelling, grammar, usage, and product/brand technical and informational errors. Maintain awareness of brand voice and evolving practices and enforce consistency in channels Identify and correct merchandise sizing, color, pricing, and dimension errors in selling and marketing copy Work closely with copywriters, designers, and production department to ensure the accuracy of copy across all channels Source, hire, train, and manage freelance and junior copy editors for assistance during vacations and busy times Manage and archive Eddie Bauer copy standards documentation Take on additional projects as assigned by Copy Manager and Creative Director as needed Contribute to copy team in creating a stimulating, supportive, collaborative work environment that encourages the team to continually raise the level of excellence in creative executionQualificationsEducation/Experience Required:4-year college degree in Advertising, English, Journalism, Communications or Publishing or a comparable level of experience 5 years of journalism or copywriting experience Experience in the retail/outdoor industry with awareness of trends and technology 3+ years experience in copyediting and proofreading complex retail content Extremely detail-oriented, well organized and able to thrive in deadline-driven environment Able to track and retain detailed product information and changes Self-motivated; able to work independently while handling a number of projects simultaneously Must have a proven track record in successfully working within the structure of an existing brand voice Proven experience in writing effectively for apparel, especially outerwearPhysical Requirements:The physical demands described here are representative of those that are required by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
