Contemporary Dress Designer

H&C APPAREL is a Los Angeles based women’s apparel import company with over 20 years of experience in Women's Contemporary fashion, committed to delivering high-quality designs to the market. We are currently seeking an experienced Contemporary Dress Designer to play a key role in expanding our presence in the Women’s Contemporary market. Responsibilities Conduct market and trend research in collaboration with the Design Director to achieve team goal to meet annual sales volume for the company Work together with graphic artists to develop unique print concepts, and if necessary, adjust prints for each season Keep track of the development calendar to ensure timely delivery of proto samples within due dates Contribute to the selection of fabrics and trims for all product categories Prepare initial tech packs for proto development phase, progressing to samples, utilizing Excel for tech pack creation Participate in fittings to provide feedback on fit corrections and ensure alignment with design vision Work closely with technical designers to ensure prompt sample deliveries during the production phase Assist with additional projects and initiatives as required by the sales department Collaborate with the sales team to fulfill buyer's requests for product development Qualifications 3+ years of experience in Women's Contemporary Dress apparel design. Experience working with Nordstrom, Dillards, Shopbop, Revolve, Ross is preferred Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or a related field Proficiency in creating technical sketches and CADs Strong knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (preferred) Comprehensive understanding of apparel design and the development of design tech packs Experience with garment proto fittings on fit models Ability to manage priorities and workflow effectively in a fast-paced environment Detail-oriented, highly organized, and excellent communication skills Demonstrated innovation and initiative in previous roles Open-minded and adaptable to challenges Strong multitasking abilities and flexibility to pivot when necessary Knowledge of fabrications and sewing construction for knits and wovens Motivated, positive attitude, and a team player Experience with import development
