St. Vincent de Paul of Baton Rouge is a Catholic lay organization dedicated to serving our neighbors in need through our shelters, dining room, and thrift stores. Our Boutique stores will help fund our programs and provide low-cost items to the community while offering a dignified shopping experience for all.

Position Summary:

The Store Associate helps fulfill the mission of St. Vincent de Paul by providing excellent customer service, accurately operating the point-of-sale (POS) system, and maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming store environment. This role focuses on cashiering, merchandise preparation, and sales floor recovery in a fast-paced retail setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Greet customers and create a welcoming, friendly shopping atmosphere.
Operate the POS system accurately, processing transactions with proper documentation.
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional checkout and sales floor area.
Handle, bag, and care for merchandise appropriately during checkout.
Answer phone calls promptly and professionally, providing appropriate assistance.
Assist with donation and merchandise processing, including sorting, pricing, stocking, and creating appealing displays.
Monitor and replenish supplies such as shopping bags, hangers, receipt paper, and packaging materials.
Help keep the store clean, including sweeping, mopping, cleaning windows and doors, and maintaining fixtures.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Bilingual preferred
Retail or customer service experience preferred.
Ability to read and follow established procedures.
Basic math and computer skill; comfortable using POS systems and standard office applications.
Ability to problem-solve and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Respect for the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church and the mission of St. Vincent de Paul.

Physical and Work Environment:

Ability to stand and walk for up to eight(8) hours.
Ability to reach, grasp, and manipulate objects; occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally unassisted and 50+ pounds with assistance.
Work in both climate-controlled and non-climate controlled warehouse and retail environments.
Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
