Associate Designer, Graphic Tees

The Cato Corporation, a leading specialty retailer of value-priced women’s fashion apparel with corporate offices located in Charlotte, North Carolina, operates three concepts: Cato, It’s Fashion and Versona. This position is responsible for assisting the Senior Designers/Designers in the creation of on-trend designs consistent with the company’s brand strategy, developing new ideas through competitive shopping, trend research, and design recommendations; creating sketches; and working in a collaborative environment with our merchant and sourcing teams along with Asian suppliers. Qualified candidates will possess a minimum of 1 year experience as an Assistant/Associate Designer or experience as a Design Intern in women’s fashion apparel; knowledge of raw materials and how they relate to design; strong fashion and creative sense; excellent design and sketching skills for technical drawings and freeform renderings; ability to work in a fast paced environment; experience in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office; strong written and verbal communication skills, and strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
