Our client, a well-known fashion brand, is searching for a temporary Associate Buyer to join their team in NY to cover a maternity leave. Pay is DOE, open to assistant level at lower compensation. Responsibilities: • Support the Accessories Merchandising Team in all aspects of the buying process • Manage and optimize inventory levels across core and seasonal products through core item allocations and product transfers • Monitor and identify business opportunities/challenges by market and deliver business recaps with recommendations • Assist in streamlining processes in-market and in-season • Manage marketing/sample requests and product discovery assortments • Partner closely with Account Services on order and receipt management • Partner with other product category teams across all distribution channels to ensure a holistic brand approach • Develop strong partnerships with internal departments to also include: Operations, Education, Strategy/ Client Analytics, Marketing/ Events, and Public Relations • Develop knowledge on the brand’s price positioning and the competitive landscape of the US market • Actively follow the industry and seasonal trends, while also having a strong pulse on the competitive market and key influencers Qualifications: • Bachelor's Degree Required • 1-3 years in a buying related strategic/analytical role • Strong analytical thinking and retail math skills – experience with numbers, comfortable synthesizing/drawing conclusions from large, complex sets of data and adapting to varied contexts • Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, sum product, index/match, pivot tables, etc.) and Power Point skills (animation, slide master formatting, embedding charts/graphs, etc.)
