The assistant store manager (ASM) is responsible for running the retail store. They manage everything from checking inventory to disciplining and training employees to deciding which products to stock on shelves. The most important qualification includes management experience. Computer experience and skills often are preferred, as an assistant store manager will be working with the store’s Point of Sale System. They will need to be well versed in the system in case there is are issues/questions from a sales associate.
