ASSISTANT STORE DIRECTOR — HOME & GIFT
Favor the Kind · 3026 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas
Favor the Kind is a 6,000-square-foot gift store in East Dallas built on one idea: people should leave happier than they came in. We call it The Hosted Experience. It’s the way we welcome people, care for them, and create a place that feels good to be in. It’s the heart of our stores and the reason we exist.
Our flagship has grown into two departments under one roof — Home & Gift and Women’s — and each one needs its own leader. We’re hiring the Assistant Store Director for Home & Gift. The department is yours to run: the sales floor, the team on it, the daily operation, and the numbers. Our general store next door, Earnest John Honest Goods, runs through your seat too.
This is a leadership, sales, and operations role for someone who takes pride in a beautiful, well-run room and genuinely enjoys taking care of the people in it. You’ll be trusted with real ownership, supported by an experienced leadership team, and given room to grow.
The next level is Store Director.
WHAT YOU OWN
THE HOSTED EXPERIENCE Every guest who walks through our doors should feel welcomed, seen, and cared for. You set that tone on the floor, hold the standard, and teach your team how to deliver it.HOST FLOW That’s our name for how a store runs from open to close. As Manager on Duty, you lead the rhythm of the day: making sure people know where to be, what matters most, and what needs their attention next. You set the floor before the doors open, assign zones and coverage, lead the daily huddle, manage breaks, deploy the team as traffic changes, and make sure the work of the day gets done without losing sight of the customer. A great store doesn’t happen by accident. You create the clarity that allows the team to do their best work.VISUAL VICTORY You lead the visual program for the Home & Gift floor and maintain the daily standards that make the store feel beautiful, cared for, and ready for our customers.HQ PARTNERSHIP You’re also an important connection between the sales floor and our buying team, sharing what customers are responding to, asking for, and telling us.HOME & GIFT SALES You’re accountable for your department’s weekly and monthly sales and margin. You know the goal, understand what’s driving the business, and help your team see how their work contributes to it. You share a daily sales goal with the Women’s department so the entire floor works together as one team.LEADING THE TEAM You lead the part-time team working your department, usually two to three people a day, and train every new team member. We care deeply about how people are led here. You set clear expectations, give honest and kind feedback, recognize good work, and help people grow.
THE SCHEDULE
We believe a leadership job in retail should leave room for a life outside of retail. Everyone on our salaried team works a balanced 40-hour week: four 8.5-hour days and one 6-hour day.
You get two days off every week on a fixed two-week rotation, including every other weekend off. We schedule the whole year in advance, so you’ll always know your days off.
Most days, you’re on the floor as Manager on Duty. Tuesday morning is your office block for numbers, planning, and leadership work.
WHO YOU ARE
You have 3+ years of retail or hospitality leadership experience, and you’ve been the person others look to when the day gets hectic.
You’re systems-minded. You like a checklist that gets done, a team that knows the plan, and a store that’s ready before the doors open.
You lead with kindness and hold a high standard. We don’t believe those things are opposites.
You give feedback clearly and thoughtfully. You want people to know where they stand, what great looks like, and how to get there.
You care about numbers because they tell you whether the room is working. You can read a weekly sales report, see the opportunity, and turn it into action.
You like being on the floor. You notice the guest who needs help, the display that needs attention, and the team member who needs coaching.
You find meaning in serving people and building a place where customers and employees both feel good being there.
