Role Description The Assistant Manager Customer Operations is a full-time, on-site role based in South Portland, ME. This role supports the Store Manager in leading daily customer-facing operations, including supervising sales floor activities, ensuring efficient checkout and service processes, and maintaining store standards. The Assistant Manager helps schedule and direct team members, provides coaching and feedback, and resolves customer issues in a timely, professional manner. Responsibilities include monitoring store performance metrics, supporting promotional and merchandising initiatives, and ensuring adherence to company policies and safety procedures. The role also collaborates with other leaders to foster an inclusive, high-performance culture focused on outstanding customer experiences and operational excellence.
Qualifications
Experience in retail or customer service leadership, including supervising teams and supporting daily store operations.Strong customer-focused mindset with the ability to handle escalated issues, support a positive in-store experience, and maintain service standards.Solid organizational and time-management skills to oversee schedules, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple operational activities.Effective communication and interpersonal skills to provide feedback, coach team members, and collaborate with store leadership.Comfort working with point-of-sale systems, basic reporting tools, and standard retail technology.Ability to stand, walk, and move merchandise as needed, and work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.Prior experience as a key holder or in an assistant manager or supervisory role in retail is preferred.High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in business, management, or related fields is a plus.
