Assistant Fashion Designer (Womens Sweaters/Knits)

Junior/Contemporary/Missy apparel brand is seeking an Assistant Designer to join our team! Applicant should be creative, self motivated, detail conscious, and possess a willingness to learn... Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Work with the design team to support all aspects of design and product development • Attend Design meetings to accomplish seasonal direction and calendar • Assist in inspiration research and collaborate with all team members • Create detailed development tech packages that include flat sketches with detailed explanations, measurements, fabric and trims • Follow up with development samples in order to meet due dates • Update seasonal line sheets and worksheets • Help source and select fabrics, yarns, prints, patterns, trims and embellishments to achieve designs for different price points • Approve and catalog trims, fabrics, prints and samples from development through production • Attend fittings as needed to ensure proper fit and aesthetic • Coordinate with technical designers to make sure all production requirements such as colors, trims, fabric quality, accessories, packaging and fit are met • Maintain showroom organization, prepare samples for design and/or sales meetings • Generate e-commerce worksheets Qualifications include: • Minimum AA degree in fashion design, or 1 year of design industry experience preferred • Sweater and knit top manufacturing knowledge preferred • Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop knowledge required • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) • Ability to understand garment construction and design from a technical perspective • Creative problem-solving skills • Reliable, detail oriented and well organized • Strong communication and follow through skills If you are a creative individual with a keen eye for design, we would love to hear from you!
