Assistant Buyer

SMCP is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Buyer to support our Buying Department. The major function is to provide the Buyers with the information and data analysis necessary to make product and inventory decisions. This position will be an integral part of the department and must be able to build strong relationships with internal, global and partner teams to support key merchandising strategies. What you’ll do: Support Buyers in the assortment building process to achieve and/or exceed financial targets Determine assortment needs for each market and make recommendations based on business trends Pull & assemble reports and files for daily merchandising responsibilities & communicate necessary information to cross-functional team in a timely manner Use reporting to develop an in depth understanding of product performance and customer base, develop action plans by category Prepare detailed daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal sales analyses based on history, current trends and market forecasts Communicate regularly with stores using the appropriate communication channels Work closely with planning/allocation to understand the complete product life cycle and ensure timely delivery and availability of product Create Product Line sheets, Product Knowledge documents based on assortment as needed for external partners & internal teams Learn to analyze business results in partnership with manager in preparation for weekly team check-ins. Develop the ability to draw top line conclusions and actions from analysis Integrate style set up in NuOrder system for all external partners Assist in coordination of product training for store employees in order to maximize awareness of the season’s collection and trends Prepare competitive market studies focusing on products and price positioning Who you are: Bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years of related experience in Merchandising/Buying Strong to Advanced computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint) Ability to learn quickly and work in a highly collaborative environment Be a positive, flexible, team player- Work independently as needed and have strong self-initiative, resourcefulness, prioritization and time management skills Detail oriented, organized with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines Strong verbal and written communication skills with peers and upper management Must be able to work independently as well as on group projects Some benefits of working at SMCP Health, dental and vision insurance Voluntary insurance coverage including Pet insurance Generous Paid Time Off Parental leave policy (non-birthing parents included) Retirement savings plan (401k) with Company match Clothing Allowance Generous retail discount
