Our client, a Los Angeles-born contemporary lifestyle brand known for effortless, elevated everyday pieces, is looking for a Freelance Designer to join their growing team. This role is based in Los Angeles with a hybrid schedule of 4 days onsite and 1 day remote.
This is a great opportunity for an apparel designer to make an impact on a brand with a loyal following and a strong design point of view. You will work closely with an Assistant Designer, the Design Director and the Creative Director in a collaborative, fast-moving studio. The focus will be on sweaters, with the chance to contribute across other categories as well.
What you will be doing
Designing seasonal sweater collections, with a primary focus on knits and a hand for color, texture and stitchDeveloping concepts, trend and color stories, and inspiration boards in collaboration with the Design Director and Creative DirectorCreating technical packages, sketches and detailed specs for productionSupporting other product categories as needs arisePartnering with the Assistant Designer and wider team on fittings, sample reviews and product development timelinesWhat they are looking for
Proven experience designing sweaters and knitwear in the women’s contemporary marketStrong working knowledge of knit construction, yarns, gauges and stitch techniquesProficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, with strong technical flat and tech pack skillsA keen eye for trend, color and fabrication, with the ability to turn ideas into wearable, commercial productComfortable working in a collaborative team and able to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
