Role Description The Adjunct Faculty Instructor – Sportswear is a part-time, on-site teaching role based in Boston, MA. The instructor will teach courses focused on advanced sportswear design and construction, prepare lesson plans and demonstrations, and deliver clear, structured instruction in a studio classroom setting. Day-to-day responsibilities include guiding students through patternmaking, garment construction, and finishing techniques, evaluating student work, and providing constructive feedback to support skill development.
Qualifications
Strong Teaching and hands-on demonstration skills, with experience facilitating hands-on learning in a studio or classroom environment.Excellent Communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly and provide supportive, actionable feedback.Professional experience in fashion design, particularly knits and sportswear, including patternmaking, garment construction, and industry practices.Bachelor’s degree or higher in Fashion Design or a closely related field, or equivalent professional experience.Commitment to inclusive, non-discriminatory teaching practices and the ability to support learners with diverse backgrounds and skill levels.Strong organizational skills and reliability in meeting scheduled class times, grading responsibilities, and school policies.
Time Commitment:
Class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1:00pm – 4:30pm in person in our Back Bay studios.
Fall semester runs Sept 9 – Dec 18, 2026
Successful hire will also be required to complete brief SFD training and onboarding before Sept 9.
