Accounting Manager (Fashion)

Client Overview: Our client, a fashion brand, is seeking an Accounting Manager to join their team. Role Overview: The ideal candidate will be hands-on, analytical, and proactive in improving financial processes. Accounting Manager Responsibilities: • Lead monthly and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and financial statement preparation in accordance with GAAP • Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations for all accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner • Prepare monthly budget-to-actual variance analysis and present insights to senior management • Own the accuracy of inventory costing, valuation, and reporting across finished goods, raw materials, and WIP • Maintain and refine standard cost models in ERP systems (ApparelMagic, QuickBooks); experience with NetSuite and other ERP systems preferred for future growth • Partner with cross-functional teams to validate inventory movements and ensure proper accounting for COGS, returns, and shrink • Oversee the excess and obsolete inventory process and manage related reserves • Liaise with banks for treasury activities and support daily cash management. • Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules. • Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting policies, processes, and internal controls, particularly around inventory and cost accounting • Assist with ad hoc financial analysis, systems upgrades, and audit support • Support the Controller with external audit preparation and tax documentation • Provide financial insights and support to teams across retail, wholesale, and e-commerce channels
